TABLE FORTS / PLAY HOUSE / TEEPEE / DENS

I have been thinking of things to do indoors as we have had so much snow and freezing weather.
Liam has always loved making dens with sheets, towels over the dining table.
I have been mulling the idea of making a proper den (tent) to use over the table over for months, then I had a lovely unexpected visit last Saturday
from a friend who has currently relocated to the US with her husbands job.

We were dicussing blogging (as we check each others) and Gayle's a play house post on her blog came up.
You gotta check out Gayle's fire house below!!!

so here are a couple of table forts

one for the boys
A mesh port hole, to watch for the enemies
and a flap inside so those badies can't see in!

and one for the girls

It is really easy to make a basic table tent pattern.

Piece one
Measure the width of table add 2" seam allowance (1" each side)
Measure length of the table top add 2"

Piece two (cut two the same)
measure the hieght of the table to the top not the underneath and add 2"
measure the width of the table top add 2"

Piece three (cut one and one with an opening for the door)
measure the height of the table to the top add 2"
measure the length of the table top add 2"

Cut a door that is 3" all round for the door flap.

and then let your creative spirit run wild.

Alittle eye candy for you.....

I also keep looking at the bed canopies at Ikea (£7)

Also good for shade in the summer!!!

You could make your these.....

Red and white spotty for a fairy toadstool?

A blue voile one for under the sea?

red, blue and yellow voile panels for a circus big top?
