SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS / LAB PARTY IDEAS

Well it's been abit of a cold weekend after such a fabulous week.

Liam was given this...

Horrible Science Explosive Experiments Kit from a good friend for Christmas.

and all sorts of ideas came to mind for a birthday party (to follow)
but since Liam only has one Birthday per year decided to make it a Science play date.

This is a fab idea for boys and girls,
but ideal for a boys day, I always think there is a lack of activities for boys.

The experiments included are:

Create and launch a cool rocket,
watch a volcano erupt,
 make a lava lamp
mix up some seriously slimy snot.

***I did add some of our own experiements which I will find the links for and add towards the weekend.**

So I bought two pairs of goggles and two white lab coats, just to add to the atmosphere!!! (mad I know)

make your own ice cream

This takes alittle time but the kids loved it!!!
INGREDIENTS ENOUGH FOR ONE

1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon sugar
4 cups crushed ice
4 tablespoons salt
2 quart size Zip loc bags
1  gallon size Zip-loc freezer bag
a hand towel or gloves to keep fingers from freezing as well!

***see conversion chart at bottom of page***

Directions:

Mix the milk, vanilla and sugar together in one of the quart size bags.
Seal tightly, removing as much air possible
(too much air left inside may force the bag open during shaking)

Place this bag inside the other quart size bag,
again pressing the air out and sealing well.
By double-bagging, the risk of salt and ice leaking into the ice cream is reduced

Put the two bags inside the gallon size bag and fill the bag with ice, then sprinkle salt on top.
Again press all the air out and seal the bag.

Wrap the bag in the towel or put your gloves on,
and Shake, Shake, Shake!
and massage the bag, making sure the ice surrounds the cream mixture.

for between 5 - 8 minutes, for the mixture to freeze into ice cream.

NOTE : Freezer bags work best because they are thicker and less likely to develop small holes, allowing the bags to leak.

GAMES

The hip bones connected to the????

have a human skeleton

print labels for certain bones (with blue tack on the back)
and see if they can put the correct bones in the correct place
